Wonder of Creation
Episode 10 - Published 29 Jul 2025
Featuring readings of Wonder of Creation from He is There, The Colours of Creation from Be Refreshed, and Australian Flora from Quiet Moments With Jesus.
Today I’m going to talk about the wonder of creation. I’ve taken this verse that I’m going to read from Colossians chapter 1, verse 16, where it says: For in him all things were created…
Now whether I travel far and wide in this world you created, or just wander in our garden or local park, the wonder of creation is beyond amazing. The more I look, the more I see. The myriad of colours and shades could never be copied, however an artist might try.
The tiny ant carrying a massive weight back to its nest, the magnificent trees that shade both animals and humans from their eat, and shelters from the rain. All creation is spectacular, and I never fail to wonder at nature. Thank you God for giving us beautiful scenery to enjoy and to admire. So this poem is called The Wonder of Creation.
Thank you Lord for what I’ve seen,
As I travelled round this land,
For the wondrous gifts you’ve given,
Made by your mighty hand. The butterflies and insects,
Dragonflies of red and blue,
Beetles green and spiders black,
Each with their special hue.The many coloured parrots,
All birds both big and small,
The pelicans and egrets,
Our Lord god made them all.The kangaroos and emus,
And the lizards on the plain,
The dingoes and the camels,
Made for this wild terrain. The lakes, and creeks, and rivers,
The oceans and seashore,
The shells and fish and wavelets,
And sea creatures by the score. The arid desert landscape,
Far as the eye can see,
With Spinifex and Spear grass,
And lonely Boab tree. The sky above, a vivid blue,
With at times a cloud so white,
And a special God given sunset,
To herald in the night.A night that shows God’s glory,
With millions of stars above,
Lighting up a sleeping world,
And shining in God’s love. The tall majestic mountains,
Rugged ranges that we see,
Wildflowers in profusion,
Desert Rose and red Sturt Pea.The oasis for the weary,
With palms and water clear,
Wherever I did wander,
I could feel my Saviour near. You do not need to travel,
To see what God has done,
Just stand out in the garden,
Count His wonders one by one.
And then I look at the colours of creation. Just so amazing, as an artist I look out of the window that I’m sitting, looking out of now, at all the native trees that I can see. And you talk about green, but it’s not just green, it’s the amazing amounts of green there are. When you try and copy them, it’s almost impossible to be able to get all those shades that our Lord created. So this next poem is called The Colours of Creation.
The beauty of our Lord God is shining all around,
In every bird and flower His glory can be found.
Every petal and each leaf gleams freshly bold and bright,
The sun and moon above pierce darkness with God’s light.Endless colours seen with a variety of hue,
Beasts and birds and plants are God’s precious gift to you.
The sweet smells of new mown hay and the rain after the dry,
The roses on the bush and the pretty butterfly.Herds of grazing cattle, woolly sheep safe in the fold,
Horses in the paddock are a great sight to behold.
Autumn leaves so lovely, in colours of golden brown,
And orange, red and yellow caught on a breeze drift down. The redness of the soil and the whiteness of the sands,
Meet blue and aqua sea that surrounds God given lands.
The white tipped surf that tumbles on every distant shore,
Sometimes lapping gently, sometimes with a roar. The colours in the rocks, and the mountains rising high,
The bats and bees and ants, and the blueness of the sky,
The water in the streams, the drop of a waterfall,
The vast expanse of ocean; the Lord God made them all.The splendour of a sunset of orange, pink and red,
Heralds the end of day when creation rests its head.
The wonder of a sunrise and golden sunny ray,
Awakening God’s world as night fades to a new day.
Australia has a variety of native wildflowers. They’re unique to this country, and often they’re individually unique to particular states in Australia. Western Australia, where I live, have a vast variety of wildflowers, and it is a tourist attraction, and people come from not only overseas, but interstate as well in the spring to view their abundance.
You need to travel vast distances to see many species, as they often grow in one area only. Here is a poem I wrote about the Australian flora, which I find absolutely beautiful, but also fascinating. I took the poem from Matthew chapter 6, verse 28: See how the flowers of the field grow.
The Flora of Australia’s West
Are so amazing to survey,
Large masses of blooms and colour,
Though great heat and drought come their way.God of creation made them all,
These species which are so rare,
For only in this land is seen,
Breathtaking flora everywhere.Tourists they come far and wide,
To visit such floral splendour,
When spring arrives in this vast land,
Can be seen God’s awesome wonder.Travel and observe how many,
Flower varieties are seen,
But please don’t lift them from the Earth,
Making holes where the plant has been. For Aussie flowers are delicate,
They’re made to grow in one spot,
They won’t flourish in another place,
Not a garden or a pot.So stand back and remember,
Take photographs by the score,
Tell your friends to come and visit,
Return again to see more.
So whether I travel far and wide in this world God created, or just wander in the garden or local park, the wonder of creation is beyond amazing. The more I look, the more I see.
The myriad of colours and shades could never be copied, however an artist might try. The tiny ant carrying a massive weight back to its nest, and the magnificent trees that shade both children and adults from the heat and shelter us from the rain. I’ve stood atop a hill, a high hill.
All creation is spectacular, and I never fail to wonder at the splendour of nature. Thank you God for giving us beautiful scenery to enjoy and to admire.
