Adriana:
Welcome, everyone. I have the honor of introducing the new podcast Pam’s Spiritual Poetry to you all. With me in the studio is Pam. Pam is a member of Deo Gloria Community Church of Rockingham.
In her spare time, she enjoys painting, traveling, writing poetry, gardening, and spending time with her family. She lives with her husband, Philip, and has three children and six grandchildren. She also considers her church community an extension of her family.
I’m excited to introduce you today, Pam. Would you share with us, and the listeners, the purpose behind your beautiful work?
Pamela:
Thank you so much, Adriana, for the introduction to my podcast. What began as personal reflections has become something much more profound. I found myself sitting in church services, being moved by particular phrases and ideas. These moments were so deep, you couldn’t let them just drift away.
I wanted to capture these times, so I began to take notes of the messages spoken by the pastor. As I pondered and thought of the words of wisdom, I not only took notes, but poetry began to flow. Observing the world God created, I’m often drawn to write poetry to explain my feelings of our Lord God Almighty and the truth found in his holy word.
I find that our lives are so full of things to be done that we often become overwhelmed with the pressures of our day-to-day activities. Being occupied and busy is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as we are kind to the important things in life.
In Ecclesiastes chapter 3, it tells us: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…
In the eyes of a Christian, the most important thing in life is our relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Jesus is with us throughout our busy days, watching over us and waiting for us to go to him. Never be so busy that you don’t have time to find a quiet place each day to talk to our Heavenly Father in prayer.
The time spent with our Lord is a time of refreshment where the pressures of life melt away and for a while we renew our faith and strengths. Psalm 46 tells us: God is our refuge and strength, so be refreshed in him.
In sharing these poems through this podcast, I hope listeners find their own moments of connection and that these might inspire them to preserve their own spiritual insights into whatever creative form that may speak to them.
Adriana:
Beautiful. Well, thank you, Pam, and to all the listeners, please follow Pam’s journey as she shares her poetry with you all. Thank you.
